Getting to Know Heather

Q: When/how did you become involved with Lightbearers?

A: I would have to say it began way back by my taking the Perspectives course. I learned there that we all have a part to play in missions. If God wasn't calling me to be a goer, then He could use me as a sender or mobilizer. God still had a place for me in advancing His kingdom! Then when I heard about Lightbearers, I loved the vision and wanted to be a part of it!

Q: What is your favorite book and/or quote?

A: Favorite book: A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. Favorite quote: "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." II Corinthians 4:18

Q: What excites you about the Lightbearers' vision?

A: I love the fact that Lightbearers seeks to develop renewable funding resources, through real estate investments primarily. The past couple of years have shown the wisdom of that model - when the economy is down, investments still generate funds to send overseas to mission projects. It's a novel approach.

But also, on the missions side, I love that Lightbearers seeks out mission partners who are on the front lines working among the least reached people groups. In my role as projects advisory chair, I get to become familiar with the mission partners and their work. They have so much passion and integrity. I wouldn't feel better investing my mission funds anywhere else!

Q: Other than Jesus, what Bible character would you want to have lunch with?

A: Oh my, so many! I think Joseph (Jacob's son). But then again, Paul, Mary, David,

Moses, John ... I'd have to have a dinner party!

Q: What does a fun, relaxing day look like for you? .

A: Hanging out with my family. We have a ball when we're together!
