Q: When/how did you become involved with Lightbearers?
A: I knew of Lightbearers years before I became involved with them. I gained a marginal understanding through my friendship with Kevin McCollum, but it wasn't until the summer of 2009 that I gained a bigger understanding of what Lightbearers was all about. I was contacted by an old friend from my teenage years, Andrew Brill, about being a part of a Discipleship House with Lightbearers and the opportunity to go on a two-week mission trip over Christmas Break. I felt led by the Spirit that I needed to be involved and, although it was unclear to me at the time, that there was something bigger waiting for me if I would have faith and follow His lead. My role started as a student living in the Leverett apartments and being discipled, and has now moved to the full-time Maintenance Manager for all of Lightbearers properties in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. In Fall 2010, I will also begin mentoring and discipling college students as a leader in a discipleship house.
Q: What is your favorite book and/or quote?
A: My favorite book is The Disciple of Spiritual Discernment by Tim Challies.
Q: What excites you about the Lightbearers' vision?
A: What excites me most is being able to work together towards carrying out our mission as Christians: to make disciples of all nations and to spread the Gospel of Christ. Being allowed by the grace of God to shine His light into the world is the biggest blessing we receive as Christians. Going to the unreached people groups of the 10/40 Window and living out the Christian life brings my heart joy and peace!
Q: Other than Jesus, what Bible character would you want to have lunch with?
A: It would have to be either Moses or Paul. Both men were distinctly called out by God from lives that by the world's standards were great, and were taken by God's direction to fulfill much greater purposes.
Q: Other than Bible characters, what three people, living or dead, would you want to have lunch with?
A: Ravi Zacharias - for an insight into his knowledge and experience in defending the faith across the globe. Billy Graham - for an insight into his knowledge and experience in evangelism and how to better share my faith with others. My great-grandfather - he was a great and humble man and I would love to learn from him because I never got to meet him.
Q: What does a fun, relaxing day look like for you?
A: A fun and relaxing day for me would be sitting on Beaver Lake with my fishing poles, a packed lunch and a good book, just enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the world God created. Catching a few bass is also quite enjoyable. :-)
