The Lightbearers Institute - Session 6 1 March 2010

Today's OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY COURSE lecture covered the books of 1 and 2 Samuel. Two things stuck out to me. The first was in 1 Samuel 16:14 when "the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul." [Our speaker] reminded us that in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit filled specific people and not all people. It was not until later that the Holy Spirit filled every believer. How thankful I am that every believer can have the Holy Spirit dwell in them. Also in 1 Samuel when David kills tens of thousands of men, Hatley made the comment that God is sovereign and is in control and will do whatever it take to make His name known to all the nations. Just as it took God giving David the ability to kill that many men, look at what the disaster in Haiti has done. It has caused people across the world to talk about Christ and even caused some to believe in His name.
