Getting to Know Clark

Q: When/how did you become involved with Lightbearers?

A: I was first introduced to Lightbearers through its founder while I was director of a campus ministry for international students at the University of Arkansas called International Student Christian Association (ISCA). He managed to persuade ISCA to become a ministry partner in the California house. That partnership has continued and grown until the present time. We have been close friends with the McCollum family for many years, so when Kevin became director of LMI, he and I naturally began periodically discussing what that partnership should look like. Eventually, as Joyce and I prayed about what our role in God's kingdom work on this campus should look like, and as this partnership continued to evolve, God clearly showed us, through various strong indicators, that he was leading us to personally join the LMI team in a position that will help LMI fill a need it has in its UA campus ministry - a position that fits our hearts and passion for missions and ministry to college students

Q: What excites you about the Lightbearers' vision?

A: The two-pronged vision of LMI is clearly a divinely inspired vision. Using a renewable resource to fund urgently needed ministry initiatives in the least reached parts of the world and at the same time preparing and mobilizing the students whose resources are being re-directed in that way to themselves enter the mission force in those parts of the world is what excites me about LMI's vision! Joyce and I are eagerly looking forward to doing our part in the preparation and mobilizing part of that equation to help that vision continue to become a reality.

Q: Other than Jesus, what Bible character would you want to have lunch with?

A: The list of Bible characters other than Jesus I wouldn't particularly want to have lunch with is much shorter. Lucifer heads that list.

Q: Other than Bible characters, what three people, living or dead, would you want to have lunch with?

A: I think part of why our destiny is one with no limitations of time and space is because there will be so much to learn about the ways of God in the lives of his children while they lived within the confines of time and space. I think we all will be utterly blown away with awe and amazement at how "the grace of God in all its vast array" is put on display by "His-story" in every one of his children's lives. I can't wait to have lunch with every one of them. And yes, there are quite a few folks with whom I don't expect to ever have that opportunity. They will be spending their eternity in a place I never ever want to go to. But I'd still like to have the chance to ask them, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!"

Q: What does a fun, relaxing day look like for you?

A: The very best relaxing day for me is where I can be alone with my beautiful wife, Joyce, soaking in the beauty of the world God has made for us to discover and enjoy.
